The Annual Thanksgiving 2009







Around 4000 believers from the entire Diocese of Durgapur gathered in the St.Michael's School ground in the 'Annual Thanks giving Service' to give thanks to God and praise him for all developments that have taken place & the Blessings that have poured over the past in the 'Diocese of Durgapur'. To grace the auspicious occasion friends from the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina, USA, United Reformed Church in Wirksworth, & from the Church of Bangladesh were present along with the Bishop and all the Cleargies of the Diocese of Durgapur . The Guests from abroad were traditionally welcomed by the washing of the feet & then a procession along with the Bishop and all the Clergies of the Diocese of Durgapur. The guests from abroad were traditionally welcomed by the feet and then a procession was taken from the St. Michael's Church Compound to the St. Michael's School Ground. The Holy -Communion was celebrated by Rev.David Truby from the Wirksworth team Ministry & the message for the day was conveyed by Rev.Brian Cole from the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina, U.S.A. Following the main thanks-giving service was another service in which Deacon Swagata Das and Decon Tarun Mandi were ordained to the office of a presbyter. This is for the first time in the history of the Diocese of Durgapur that a female has been ordained as a Presbyter. In the same service Rev.Pratap Kumar Nayak was welcomed & received in the Diocese of Durgapur gratefully and whole heartedly thanked the father Almighty for his Blessings the has been made this once staggering Diocese turn around and get fully involved in the Ministry of serving God and Mankind.
