Two New Doctors for K.S.N Hospital

Debjit :- Dr. Shubhro Mullick and Dr. Elizabeth Mullick have joined K.S.N hospital from 1st Dec 2009. Both these Doctors have come from Scotland to give their specialized service in this rural hospital. Dr. Shubhro Mullick is a specialist Pediatrics/ Neonatics and Dr. Elizabeth Mullick is a specialist in obstetrics and Gynecology. They were well placed in Scotland but their commitment to serve the rural poor have drawn them to Sarenga hospital. Dr. Shubhro Mullick is a missionary doctor under the Methodist Church of U.K and Dr. Elizabeth Mullick is an volunteer doctor in the hospital. Their presence in the hospital have given new life . The Diocese of Durgapur thanks the Bishop and Dr. David Goodall who made it possible for both these specialist doctor to serve the hospital.

The Relationship Extends

Debjit :- Good news came from the just concluded convention of the Diocese of Western North Carolina, U.S.A, that the house unanimously voted to extend their Companion Relationship with the Diocese of Durgapur for another three years. Thanks to Bishop Porter Taylor and all the members of the Diocese of Western North Carolina, U.S.A, for their trust and Friendship

God or Oracles Speak For 2010

What does 2010 hold in store for us? Will it bring peace and cheer? Or will there be gloom and doom? Whose star will be on the ascendant and whose on the decline?

As we start a new year, there has been many writings by leading astrologers predicting good and bad news for clients like politicians and businessmen. The voices are varied and the mood mixed. Some say that India is well on its way to becoming a superpower in the next five years. That’s because India is ruled by Saturn according to Western astrology, and for the next two and a half years. Saturn will be in the sign of Libra. In this period, Saturn will be very powerful and happy in Libra, and India will rise to the very top.

The predictions year after year by the astrologers have many a times proved wrong. The year 2009 has not been an easy year for anyone across the world. The global economy remains in the grip of slowdown. There are some signs of recovery but there is no certainty that the recovery will be sustained. The other issue that grabbed the attention of most people is what is happening to the climate. It is clear that economic development has adversely affected the global environment.

But as people of faith we have no other options then to look unto God for his guidance and blessings. God who has created this universe will only sustain it, provided human beings obey God and follow His guidance. By doing this we can help our universe look better and also habitable.

The Outgoing Rays

Sandipan Sinha :- Prochesta is one of the wings under Diocesan Women Fellowship for Christian Service, Diocese of Durgapur which has been established in St. Paul’s Church Asansol with the vision to re-establish the life of those young girls in the slum area of Asansol not only by giving them the basic educational facilities but teaching them a practical job so that they can earn in their livelihood with perseverance and dignity. Practical classes are given in sewing, embroidery and other self help activities.

After a long effort from the centre two students have reached the goal. Ms.Sarita Rajaz showed great skills in dance while Ms. Laxmi Lal in Sewing. Laxmi is one of the old students attending the centre from the very beginning. Before she joined the centre her life was meaningless but after she joined the centre she recognized her goal in life. She was a drop out from school but now she has realized to get back to school again at Naye Disha School in Class-VIII. She has learnt many skills in sewing, like embroidery, blouse cutting, suit cutting, jori placing etc. Her contribution can also been seen in the churches of Diocese Of Western North Carolina when the Prochesta team made the alter by their own hands which was sent to the above mentioned Diocese. While speaking to her I found out that she has got the vision in her life and she wants to apply her skill in her daily life in the near future. As such type Sarita Rajaz is one of the newly admitted girls in Prochesta. She is doing well and is in the basic learning period in her sewing classes. However she has shown progress in the dance classes too. She is a young girl with 4 elder sisters and 1 younger brother in her family. She came to know about this centre past three months ago and decided to join. Previously she used to work in a home based tailor shop, so with the intension to learn more she came forward. She is grateful to the teacher-in charge Ms. Bharti Lal who has given her all the help and facilities in bringing her sewing classes up to mark.

The centre-in-charge Mrs. P.T. Nayak is giving her valuable time in teaching the students about daily life experiences that they may be facing in today’s World and thus preparing them to learn the basic needs to meet the challenges in life.

Kirk Ireton, a small village with big heart

Canon David Truby :-The partnership between the Diocese of Durgapur and the Wriksworth Team Ministry in England has been developing for nearly six years. During that time a number of parishes in the team have contributed towards the “Rikshaw Project”. In the January of this year Canon David Truby, the team reactor, visited Durgapur with three of his colleagues from the other Churches in Wriksworth. Their intention was to extend the link to the other denominations represented within the town. In June the Bishop of the Durgapur Rt. Rev. Probal Kanto Dutta, took three of his clergy to visit Wriksworth during their name in England as guests of the United Reformed Church.

During his visit, the Bishop spoke at an open air service in Kirk Irecton, one of the villages in the Wriksworth team. A young couple who were preparing to get married were so inspired by his talk that they asked their family and friends to donate to the Rikshaw Project rather than buy them gifts at the time of their marriage.

The latest idea to originate from Kirk Irecton came from the children who attend the village youth club called ‘Juniors Den”. During their summer holidays, thirteen of the children did jobs around the home and village for family and friends in exchange for payment. They raised a total of $ 235 which has now been sent to the Diocese. It was also an opportunity for the children to gain some understanding of life in the villages of the Diocese. It was just one small indication of the growing development of our link which has become a precious aspect of life for the Churches in the Wriksworth area.

Sandipan Sinha:- About 3 hours journey approx 120 kms from the Steel City of Durgapur is situated the little known village of Sarenga under district Bankura, where the majority of population hail from the Tribal community( Santhals) living well below the poverty Line. Sarenga block in the district of Bankura in West Bengal is one of the most backward blocks in the State. The population basically hails from Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, small and marginalized communities. The inhabitants depend on agriculture (crop monsoon dependent) and on daily wage labour in the non–agricultural season for their livelihood. Other than these they some times depend on their home based business like poultry farming, bamboo basket making etc and leaf plat making.
On 21st September 2007 the Diocese of Durgapur started its first Cycle Rickshaw Van Project in the mainland of Sarenga by giving first vans to four men including Mr. Ashish Ree. The purpose of our service was to bring back the life of those untouched people of Sarenga to the standard living mark. Basically these men worked in the paddy field or in the crop harvesting and use to earn a very small wage. Other than these, few worked in the local cold storage and got only Rs.30/- per day which was merely a single meal cost per person per day. While few were engaged in the rickshaw van pulling which they had to hired from different owners for Rs. 30 or Rs. 40 per day. Today there are 12 persons namely Ramu Dulay, Khagan Dulay, Ranjit Ahir, Bhonath Chalak, Nepal Chalak, Swapan Lohar, Jeetan Lohar, Ujjal Das, Asish Ree, Kartik Dulay, Jakir Sekh & Sukhadev Das those who have received rickshaw vans from the project.
One such case is Mr. Swapan Lohar. He was a rickshaw van puller which he use to hire from a owner for Rs. 30 per day in order to earn a full day meal for his family. His family comprises of his mother, his wife Mrs. Bela Lohar who is a agricultural daily labour and his son Bapi Lohar who is ongoing student in the Sarenga Secondary School in class- VII. He was introduced in the project in the month of June 20th 2008 as a rickshaw van puller. Till date he has improved his life to much extend not only financially but has got sets of goal in his life. He has opened his personal bank account in Malubhum Bank, where he deposits his monthly income. Now a days he spends most of the time with his family and friends and rewinding his thoughts for renovating his house for better standard of living as his daily income is approx Rs.80 per day and deposits only Rs.5 in the project centre. His utmost desire is to send his only son for higher education in good school and later to college. Out of the depth of time we can recognize the pursuit of happiness in the faces of those who were taken into project by giving them rickshaw vans.
The Diocese started the Rickshaw Van Project at Sarenga on 21st September 2007 with only 4 rickshaw vans but slowly the number increased as more rickshaw vans came in, 3 on 22nd November 2007, 2 on 1st February 2008, 1 on 16th February 2008 & 2 on 20th June 2008, so all total 12 vans are running in the heart of Sarenga. Nita Pyne, the Project-In-Charge said that Rs.5 is taken from each rickshaw van puller which is deposited in the saving bank account opened specially for the project. The amount that they deposit would be saved for their future use like major repairs of the vans. It will also work as a loan bank for the group. Till the date 31st August 2009 Rs.26845 had been saved for the respective purpose in the Malubhum Bank Account in Sarenga. . It was reported by Ms. Pyne that the rickshaw van pullers are now planning to send their children to good school and also to the Sarenga Child Development Centre and taking a smooth move in the life to sustain the value of dignified citizen of India.

Rupees Ten for the Teachers

Sandipan Sinha :- Fifth of September is the ani day of a great philosopher and teacher who was also the President of India Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan . Though he was a great man, he did not forget his village teacher who gave him the foundation of education. When Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan met his village teacher as a president, he touched the feet of his teacher as a mark of respect.
Remembering this great act the Government of India declared fifth September as a ‘ Teacher’s Day’ and is celebrated in all schools throughout the length and breadth of the country. The Durgapur Child Study and Development Centre run by Durgapur Women Fellowship for Christian Service aims to impart education to the slum children of Durgapur. A few years back these children were wandering around the streets, dirty, using abusive language and some even engaged in petty slealing. It was the aim of the women fellowship to help these children who are neglected by their parents to give them a better life in the future by imparting and encouraging them with value based education.
The result of the three years labor by the women fellowship was seen on 5th September 2009, when the children of the poorest of the society gave leadership in collecting Rupees Ten to buy small gifts for their teachers as a mark of respect and love. On that day the children organized themselves and put up a good cultural programme and also served them a delicious lunch for the teachers. As they performed their show, it was seen that they did it with confidence which portraits a ray of new hope for these children to come up in life. This ‘Transformed Life’ will help eradicate illiteracy in India .

ST.MICHAEL’S CHURCH YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

Mr.Ayan Kumar Tudu( President ):- 30th August,2009: A huge day in the history of St.Michael’s Church. After around 15 years of sleeping the Youth and Sunday school have risen up and started their journey towards a better future with a giant leap. Under the dynamic and encouraging leadership of Rev. Mrs. Swagata Das around 40 youth and Sunday school students gathered in the premises of St.Michael’s Church to celebrate that day as Youth and Sunday school day.
After it was announced on the previous Sunday that on 30th August, 2009 our Church is going to have a Youth and Sunday school program then from that day onwards our youths started to gather collect funds from Church members and to our surprise money kept pouring in from all corners and response from each and every member of our Church members was encouraging and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
The theme of the program was “We are the salt of the Earth”. The Church service was taken by the Youths and after it was over, the program started. It began with our Reverend dividing us into five groups. After that we played games had quiz competition followed by debate on various topics and then we had poster writing competition. Both the youth and Sunday school thoroughly enjoyed them. After lunch the program again resumed and prizes were distributed to respective winners of the games and various competition. Prizes were also distributed to the Sunday school students as an appreciation for their participation. At last the program ended with a vote of thanks to the organizers, musician and lastly and most fittingly giving thanks and praise to Lord Jesus Christ for making that day a memorable day for each one us present there.
Personally it was a great experience for me as I came to know more about the truth that God is always by us to help us in our work as without his glorious presence this humongous program would not have been possible. I also realized if God is with us who can be against us. I am sure that each one present there would agree with me. Moreover we are looking forward to organize this type of program more in the near future not only for our pastorate but also along with other pastorates.

Rehabilitation Work for ‘Aila’ Victms

K.N.Das:-Cyclone Aila which hit West Bengal in May 2009, left at least thousand homeless. The district of Midnapur which was effected is within the Diocesan boundry of Durgapur Diocese. The diocese in its first place work of distributed clothes, utensils, and food items to one thousand people who were affected.

As a part of the second phase few houses and six deep tube wells be build. The first two houses have been started at Khejuri I, in the district of Midnapur. The house of Srimanta Pradhan, a 50 year old man had a mud house has been destroyed. His house is now being build. Srimanta is a farmer who has 6 Katha of land and cultivates paddy. But the rice which he gets is only enough for two months of the year. Rest of the maintain his family comprising of wife and two small sons.

The second house is now being build of Sasadhar Giri a sexty five year old man who has a wife and a son. His mud house was destroyed and the Diocese of Durgapur is building his house. Sasadhar Giri is farmer with ten katha of land and he cultivates rice. But the rice whihch he gots from the farm is only enough for six months. He also ha sa cow and sells milk and earns Rs. 200/- per month.

We are thankful to the Methodist Church, United Kingdom and Episcopal Relief and Development fund for their support for his rehabilitation work.

PROCHESTA – INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Rev. Pratap Kumar Nayak: The 63rd’ Independence Day was celebrated at Presbyter Vicarage, Asansol at 7.45 am Rev. Pratap Kumar nayak hoisted the national Flag with the presence of St. Peter’s School students, teachers, staff, Parents, St. Paul’s Churches Congregation and Prochesta Students.

Rev. P.K.Nayak in his speech reminded the duties and obligation of the day for the country and requested to pray for the future of the country to protect from various kinds of diseases like Swine-Flue and from the calamities, AILA and drought in the country.

On the eve of Independence Day all the Prochesta students were distributed uniforms. We are grateful to the Bishop and to the Principal of the St. Peter School, Mr. D. Thomas for the permission and necessary cooperation.

New Clinic for Durgapur Child Study and Development Centre

Rita Dutta: Durgapur Child Study and Development Centre is growing everyday. It started of in the Portico of the Diocesan Bhawan and later with the help of the Companion Diocese, Diocese of Western North Carolina build a school building and a hostel for slum children.

There is a need for good health among children and keeping this in mind Rev. John Rice Reactor of Good Shepherd Church raised money for a clinic. When the Bishop of Diocese of Durgapur visited Good Shepherd Church, the congregation members gave generously and the amount crossed the target what was fixed.

The work of the clinic has started and hopefully by January 2010 we can open the clinic. There will and have a trained full time Nurse and a weekly Doctor who will check the children of centre also their parents. They will also look at anybody who is poor in Durgapur.

Sandipan Sinha :- The Project Committee of Women Fellowship For Christian Service organized a one day training programme for all the teachers of the centre namely Durgapur Child Development and Study Centre, Durgapur, Prochesta Asansol, Inter faith Community Study Centre, Bankura And Community Study Centre, Purulia on Sunday 16th August 2009.
During the training programme our Respected Bishop The Rt. Rev. Dr. Probal Kanto Dutta asked the teacher to share two questions; One Why am I in this programme? Secondly what are my experiences? Each teacher shared their views like some said ‘ They feel that they are part of a larger family’, some said that ‘ Their concept of service has changed etc.
Mr. K. N. Das the fascinator of the programme helped the group to workout a common objective for the centres. He further explained what are the duties of the teachers and also share the responsibility of the parent. At the end of the programme each teacher was rejuvilened and work out the plan of action.

Teacher’s Training Programme of Community Development Programme, Sarenga

Bunty: A two day Teacher’s/ Animator’s Training Programme was organized by the Community Development Programme, Sarenga on the 4th and 5th of August 2009 at Shanti Griha, Durgapur. 15 teachers from all the focus villages under the programme joined in the curriculum which was aimed to prepare the teachers not only in education but education related to development.
The training started with an induction ceremony in which the opening word of prayer was offered by the Rev. Swagata Das. The Bishop and Chairman of the Community Development Programme Sarenga, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Probal Kanto Dutta, in his key note introductory address emphasized that the education that the programme is imparting to the children is very much different from the formal schools that they are going to. He further stressed that the auxiliary education imparted to the children are in vision of a holistic developed community in the future and that the teachers should not act as simple teachers but as changing agents bringing about a total development to the lives of the children they touch.
The first day sessions were taken by Mr. K. N. Das, Coordinator of three programmes under the Diocese of Durgapur. In the first half Mr. Das trained the partakers about Societal Education and its related values that are to be implanted in the children of the centres. Participants, divided into groups, were asked to discuss among themselves and bring out the possible teachings that are to be instill in the children regarding Education, Health, Native Tradition, Language, Attire/ Dressing, Food Habits, Social Values and above all to identify the characteristics of each individual child. It was inspirational to see that the teachers themselves found out the teachings that they would be imparting to the children of the focus values. The second half of the day saw the participants being trained on the duties and responsibilities on the part of the Teachers, Parents as well as the Children also. This half was aimed towards increasing the interest among the children and consciousness among parents towards education which will ultimately relate to their development.
The second day sessions were facilitated by Mr. Sushil Sharma, Director of the Ecumenical Social Industrial Institute. He resourced the trainees on addressing the challenges and opportunities in rural education – changing threats to opportunities and weakness to strength. This session was especially useful to the participants as they do face quite a couple of challenges, both social and economical, while educating the children of the children and connecting with the people of the village. Further Mr. Sharma took a session on capacity building, which is another very important factor in rural education; because according to Mr. Sharma no development can be possible if the teachers do not enhance their personal capacities and well as the societal and organizational capacities.
To conclude the training programme the participants were appealed for their personal feedback, which to the contentment of the Programme Officials was very satisfactory, because, they have expressed their eagerness to partake in more analogous, educative, modern and extensive scaled working out curriculum. The Programme sincerely hopes that this training will further augment the inner aptitude of the teachers who are acting as transfigure instrument for the future of the politically disturbed, deficient villages in and around the block of Sarenga.

Land Donated to Diocese

Rev.R.C.Kisku :- On 14th July, 2009 in a function at Soglepara , Smt. Mungli Tudu and Sri Lakshman Tudu jointly donated a piece of land measuring 5 Cottahs in the name of Durgapur Diocesan Trust Association. The number of believers in Soglepara congregation is increasing gradually. Earlier there were only 3 families and now it has increased to 12 families. The believers of Soglepara congregation are very conscious of the Sunday Worship and also for any prayer meeting. Not a single man or woman is absenting from the Sunday Worship. All are coming to Church for which we need to praise and thank God, children and adult, join in the singing of hymn in the Church and each bring offerings for the Lord. In the Kochpara Pastorate, there are eight congregations, but only the Soglepara congregation is seen very consious and careful in church matters. Two members of this congregation have willingly donated the land for a church building. the Lord for the new assets of the Diocese increasing gradually in the Pastorate.

Manju Tudu's Testimony

I had two mothers in my home. One of them died due to a injury in the leg which got septic. I don’t have my father, neither do I have brothers or sisters. I used to stay back at home and study in the Anganwadi (ICDS) School while my mothers went in search of work as daily labourers. Our house is a broken down. Many wicked people used to enter my house. My mother used to say no when they offered some money to take me away. I come to the Durgapur Child Study and Development Centre for nearly three to four years, Madam (Mrs. Rita Dutta) used to inquire about my house many times and I used to tell her all that used to happen. Seeing my condition and she built a hostel for us where I stay now and from where I go to school daily. I am now in the sixth standard of the local Government Sponsored Girl’s High School. The hostel I stay in is very good and they take very good care of me.
Last Saturday (25th July), I and my Miss Kaviraj boarded a Eureka Bus and went to Kolkata to go to Delhi. Taking a taxi from the bus stand we headed towards the airport. After the people in the airport checked all our things we boarded the bus to take us to the aircraft. I was thinking I must be dreaming when in the bus and when I was climbing up the stairs to board the plane I was feeling like I was entering heaven. How the two hours went past from Kolkata to Delhi, I cannot express in words. On reaching Delhi we were welcomed by Sulakshna Miss from the YMCA, who took us to their hostel where the programme was to be held. I enjoyed every moment of the programme I attended. I made many new friends and we all participated in a drama that we enacted on stage. I felt a bit nervous and afraid when I was told to speak in the programme. After getting through all those, I told the audience about me and my centre, my hostel, its teachers and my friends here in Durgapur. After I had finished telling them everything everyone was praising me and I was feeling so proud that I am a part of the Durgapur Centre.
When returning back we shared our love and I was also feeling sad that I had to leave so many friends that I had made. I could not believe myself that I would, one day in my life, join others in such a huge meeting. I am very thankful to my Madam and Bishop Sir for sending me and making a dream of my lifetime come true.

Purulia Rickshaw Project

sandipan Sinha :-In the year 2007 the Diocese of Durgapur had launched a programme for rickshaw pullers who are socially and economically deprived class of the society. The objective behind this programme was to bring a dignity to their profession and improve their standard of living. Under this programme, the Rickshaw Pullers were provided with Rickshaws donated by the Diocese. Generally, the rickshaw pullers do not have their own rickshaws and they rent the rickshaws which results in a large chunk of their income going to the rickshaw contractors. Thus, they cannot lead a comfortable life despite the hard work put in by them and perennially trapped in debt.
Out of the depth of time we can recognize the pursuit of happiness in the faces of those who were taken into project by giving them rickshaws. One such case we can observe in Purulia Rickshaw Project. Mr. Kishor Karmakar, age 29 is the one, to whom one of the Rickshaw was given. It’s a long time that he is using it and not only the fact that he has got a rickshaw from the Diocese, driving it to sustain his daily life but the real scenario is something else. The Blessing through which we have started the rickshaw project in the Diocese can be seen in his face and life too. His spiritual and intellectual life has got a U turn. when I met him in the purulia Community Study Centre I was really forced to think that how can God change the life of a person through various means. Before he joined the project his life was quite like the other people, suffering, pain, tension for the money etc. but now he is different than the others as God Almighty has given him the opportunity to serve the people by driving the passenger to their destiny in his rickshaw. His wife Mrs. Sujala Karmakar and son Nobin Karmakar who is one of the student of the centre are living in peace and prospering in daily life. Now they don’t have to think about money, food, clothe etc because it’s plenty and they are enjoying the Blessing Of The Heaven. Everyday he is earning more than Rs.70 which is much higher than the other rickshaw puller and out of his daily income only Rs.5 he summits in the Purulia community study centre. Even the centre is thinking to open a separate bank account for the rickshaw project. “I have changed, I am happy” all the words I can hear from him throughout my stay with him. This is the just the beginning and the world will see, the progress will never stop.

Tree Plantation Festival in Mission Girls High School Bankura

Mr. A.K.Roba: The School Management Committee of the Missions Girl’s High school, Bankura headed by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Probal Kanto Dutta, Bishop is very proud OF the academic result, FOR the year 2008-2009. The school has been honored of with ranks in class. X and XII Board Examination of West Bengal. On behalf of the Diocese of Durgapur as a secretary of the school I express our heart-felt thanks to our Headmistress, Mrs. Abijita Chowdhury and all the teachers for their hard work.

The school does not only provide academic education but they are also made very aware o the social environment. This year Govt. of West Bengal declared “Tree Plantation festival Week” from 14th’July 2009 to 22nd’ July 2009. Mr. Ajita Mishra, vill- Rampur, Mishrapara, Bankura, who donated a “Mahogany Tree” a very costly tree.. Mr. Mishra very carefully planted the tree from an earthen Tub. He used special fertilizer for this tree so that the tree can grow up easily. After a few years it will grow about 12 feet with many brunches. This very has been planted in a proper place in the compound of the Mission Girl’s High School, where an old Mahogany tree over 100 years old fallen down by a storm. The plantation programme was observed in a meaningful way. Mr. Mishra stated that he was satisfied to donate tree as he feels that the Mission Girls High School was the proper place to care nature the tree to grow like the students of the school. We feel this as a reward of goodwill to the school.

Celebration of Vanomaohatsav ( Tree Plantation):

Ms. Gargee Seth : In the State of West Bengal Vanmahotshab was celebrated from 14th’ – 20th’ July. At St. Michael’s School Bankura , the staff & students celebrated Vanmahotshav on 22nd July 2009. The programme was graced by the District magistrate of Bankura- Md. Gulam Ali Ansari, Divisional Forest Officer- Sudhir Chandra Das and Deputy Magistrate cum – Collector Debasis Karmamkar. The students honored the guests with floral bouquets. The morning assembly was conducted by Rev. Samuel Halder, Chaplin of the School. Our honorable guests actively participated in the plantation programme with the students of St. Michael’s School. Light refreshments were given to everyone at the end of the programme .

REVIVING E.S.I.I THROUGH DIOCESANS INITIATIVES

Mr. A.K.Roba: At the time of the Industrial Revolution in Durgapur, during the late fifties & early sixties the Ecumenical Social & Industrial Institute (E.S.I.I) was one of the pioneer Institutes in Durgapur imparting quality Industrial Education to all. Due to lack of proper leadership at the helm, for a period of eight years, the vision with which it was started by Rev. Keyon Wright and others has now been revived by the initiatives of the Rt. Revd. Dr. Probal Kanto Dutta, Bishop of Durgapur Diocese, The Rt. Revd. Ashoke Biswas , Bishop of Kolkata Diocese, the Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan, General Secretary, CNI- Synod and Mr. Sudipta Singh, Programme Director, CNI- Synod. The Board of Governors has appointed Mr. Sushil Sharma as the resident Director. Mr. Sharma has a Master in Social Work with 22 years of experience working with CASA. A Board has been constituted and we feel that the Board will evoke and realize the Vision, Mission and the past Glory of E.S.I.I.

CELEBRATION OF FOUNDATION DAY OF M.C.D.C

Mr. Simon Uttam Singh: The Foundation Day of Mankar Child Development Centre was celebrated on 14th’ July 2009 at St. Luke’s Church Compound, Mankar. All children, staffs and teachers of the centre were taken part to celebrate the foundation day to make it successful, The programme was started with word of prayer led by the Revd. Swagata Das, Presbyter, thanking God for His many blessing showed upon the for past five years. She also prayed for God’s wisdom and guidance for the future growth of the Project and the Glory of the God’s Kingdom. A group of children of the Centre were sang opening song and performed dance including Cultural programme. After the programme Rev.(Mrs.) Swagata Das celebratede the Foundation Cake and distributed amongst the students. She also hosted the flag of the M.C.D.C Mr. A.K.Roba, Project Director attended the programme and in the mark of the 5th’ years of completion of the Project he inaugurated the “ MINI GYMNASTIC UNIT” for use of the children of the Centre. He also expressed in his speech that beside the education physical strength is needed for the student. Physical exercise is a part of the education. The foundation Day was celebrated very well organized followed by the Special Lunch for the students.
